Keunjung-jun, where the king hosts major national events or government officials present  reports to the king, Sajung-jun the king°Øs office and Jung-jun, a royal audience chamber and Pyun-jun the side room of the palace were all positioned on the front side of the palace.

In the rear side stand bed-chambers of the king and queen, together with gardens for relaxation and leisure.

It is a positioning format of the royal government-in-the-front and bed-chambers-in ?the-back, which is interpreted as an extra strict regulations for Kyoungbok Palace as Joseon°Øs major palace.

Once destroyed in fire during the Japanese Invasion in 1592, the palace was reconstructed during the reign of King Kojong, after 273 years, to be erected as its original capacity. The reconstruction took four years. With the Korea-Japan Annexation in 1910, most of the 200- building palace house that lasted for 200 years was all destroyed, except about 10 buildings, including Kyounghoe-ru and Keunjung-jun.

Headquarters has been demolished, while the 12 buildings of the King Kojong°Øs era have been successfully restored. An extended restoration project is still underway.
