Soybean meal
Soybean meal also known as soybean oil cake is a flour made by grinding the solid residue of soybean oil production. It is widely used as a filler and source of protein in animal diets, including pig, chicken, cattle, horse, sheep, and fish feed. Soybean meal is an important source of protein for animals due to its excellent amino acid composition and high level of digestibility.
Soybean meal is preferably made from high quality, sound, clean, dehulled yellow beans, since beans with a dark colored seed coat, or even beans with a dark hilum will inadvertently leave undesirable dark specks in the flour. All commercial soybeans of Ukrainian origin are yellow or yellow brown.
Because soybean meal is the principal source of protein for the feed industry worldwide, it has become an ingredient that is strategically traded around the globe every day of the year.
