The steel grade 1.4021 is a high tensile strength martensitic stainless steel with good corrosion properties. The steel is machinable and suits good for production of details with good resistance to e.g. air water steam, freshwater, certain alkaline solutions and other mildly aggressive chemicals. It shall not be used in marine or in chloride environment. The steel is magnetic and in the quenched and tempered condition.
General characteristics
Very popular martensitic grade. Corrosion resistant in water and steam. Low-medium hardness for applications such as cutting utensils, surgical instruments, press plates, brake discs and mechanical parts.
