INTENDED USE

The AFP Gold Rapid Screen Test (RST) is a chromatographic immunoassay for the detection of alpha fetoprotein (AFP) in human serum or plasma.

PRINCIPLE

AFP is a sort of protein produced by embryonic cell and yolk sac particularly at the period of fetus. The concentration of AFP on normal human body serum is minimal(<25ng/ml), if the liver cell become malignant, it will increase significantly. AFP is important for the early diagnosis of primary hepatocarcinoma. AFP can be detected in the blood several months before the symptom appear, it has been used widely in the early diagnosis of hepatocarcinoma. After the patient was hepatectomized and received effective therapy, the AFP in serum always dropped. It will rise when the cancer relapsed. The abnormal rise of AFP is an indicator to the early discovery and determination of hepatocarcinoma in clinic. It also can be used as an index to the therapy effect and prognosis.

The AFP RST is a chromatographic immunoassay (CIA) for the detection of AFP in human serum or plasma. Specific antibody against AFP re-coated onto membrane as a capture reagent on the test region. During the test, specimen is allowed to react with the colloidal gold particles, which have been labeled with other specific antibodies. If AFP present, a pink colored band will develop on the membrane in proportion to the amount of AFP presented in the specimen. Absence of this pink colored band in the test region suggests a negative result. To serve as a procedural control, a pink colored band in the control region will always appear regardless the presence of AFP.

This RST is convenient, easy to read, sensitive, rapid and credible diagnostic kit that suitable to all levels of hospitals and medical and hygienical institutions.
