Material Introduction:
Boron Nitride exhibits a hexagonal structure and it's sometimes known as white graphite, due to its lubricity, anisotropic properties, heat resistance, and high thermal conductivity. This latter property, combined with a low thermal expansion, leads to excellent resistance of thermal shock. Both of two forms, Hot Pressed and Pyrolytic, can be used at very high temperature. However, in an oxidising atmosphere the maxiumum use temperature is 900 Celsius. Hot Pressed Boron Nitride is produced by densification of powder, whereas Pyrolitic Boron Nitride is produced by Chemical Vapour Deposition(CVD), depositing onto graphite at tempeature in excess of 1800 Celsius.

Boron Nitride differs from graphite in having a high dielectric strength and low dielectric constant and is often used as an electrical insulator at very high temperatures. Chemically inert, Boron Nitride is used as crucibles for molten metals. Boron Nitride is non-toxic and transparent to microwaves.

Hot Pressed Boron Nitride is made using a hot pressing process, and comes as lubricious white solid. It can be easily machined to precise tolerances using normal working tools. There are several different purity levels and binder methods for this material to meet different applications, such as 99% BN, BN+ZrO2, BN+SiC, BN+AlN, etc.

Typical uses include vacuum components, low friction seals, various electronic parts, nuclear applications, and plasma arc insulators, foundry components, etc.
