Botanical Name: Punica-Granatum

Punica granatum, is a deep red yellow colouring fruit. Pomegranate peel contains approx three times the total amount of polyphenols, including condensed tannins, catechins, gallo-catechins and prodelphinidins. The higher phenolic content of the peel yields extracts for used majorly in natural fabric dyeing, dietary supplements and food preservatives. The natural fabric dye is extracted from its fruit rind (peel). The colour produced from this is a rich source of tannins and flavogallol due to this it has high colour fastness and can be used as mordents for tanning in textile dyeing industry. It has high light, wash and rub fastness.
