1. Introduction

The equipment uses a test method for European type building materials. It measures heat release rate (FIGRA), smoke generation rate (SMOGRA), oxygen consumption, monoxide & carbon dioxide production, and mass reduction rate.

SBI 2006's Single Burning Items test method is designed to measure the building material’s (excluding flooring) habit reaction, when it is exposed to thermal attack (propane fuel sand-box burner) from Single Burning Item, and fire.

The specimen is loaded on a moving trolley which is located in the frame just below the exhaust system. The response of the specimen to the burner is monitored mechanically and visually.

Heat Release Rate and Smoke Release Rate are calculated on the machine and physical properties are evaluated by visual observation.

The most representative measurement factor of SBI 2006’s measure range is Fire Growth Rate Index(FIGRA) caused by oxygen consumption produced by combustion product.

In addition, oxygen consumption, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide production, and Smoke Growth Rate Index (SMOGRA) measurements are typical measurement factors

3. Features

- Possible to automatically control the flow rate of gas supplied to Main Burner and Auxiliary Burner.

- Possible to control precise gas flow using MFC (Mass Flow Controller )

- Compressed Air can be connected to the upper part of Measuring Station to automatically purge Sampling Probe and Bi-directional Probe.

- Auto Ignition System is applied for automatic ignition.

- White Light System manufactured in accordance with DIN50055 is mounted on Measuring Station.

- Trolley is equipped with wheels, so it is easy to mount and disassemble specimen.

- The control panel consists of 19 "Analysis Control Rack.

- It is equipped with Carousel System which enables automatic calibration of light calibration.

- Gas analyzer made by Servomex UK is used to accurately measure O2, CO and CO2 concentration up to 0.02%.
