Rapid economic expansion coupled with a desire to retain traditional values, can make South Korea appear to have one foot in the future and one foot in the past. We draw our inspiration from this tension to create beautiful products representing the past and present of Korean traditional arts and crafts. 'Sorosi' means 'remained intact'. Our work is a reinterpretation of Korean traditional art and culture for a contemporary international audience. It combines and re-makes simple forms and concepts from 'Hangeul' (Korean alphabet) , 'Sansuhwa' (Korean landscape paintings in the 17th Century Joseon Dynasty) and Korean traditional patchwork, 'Jogakbo' The Korean alphabet is called Hangeul. Each letter in hangeul indicates an individual sound or phoneme. Hangeul is an alphabet system made by King Sejong the Great in 1443 during the Joseon dynasty. The Korean Hangeul script had been called the world’s most scientific writing system. Using an alphabet of 28 characters, the shapes have a strong visual aesthetic. During our production process we use an underglaze blue printing technique before products go into the kiln. While firing, the colour deepens, bringing these beautiful designs to life. Sansuhwa is a kind of Korean landscape painting that shows the beauty of nature — mountains, water, trees, and rocks. A jogakbo is a style of patchwork, traditionally used to create domestic wrapping cloths (known as bojagi) from scraps of left-over fabrics. 2022- MAISON & OBJET September 2022 Paris2021- THE HYUNDAI Magazine [style H] Interview 2019- Selected as a brand partner of I.SEOUL.UDDP Seoul Design Brands Exhibition - Special sorosi goods for The Special Exhibition : Through the Eyes of Joseon Painters: Real Scenery Landscapes of Korea (National Museum of Korea) 2018- Creators’ Ground Exhibition (COEX, SEOUL)- Craft Trend Fair 2018 (COEX, SEOUL) 2018- Namsangol Hanok Village Exhibition [HanokHangeul]- Craft Trend Fair 2018 (COEX, SEOUL) 2017- Seoul Design Festival 2017(COEX)- Berlin International Language Expo(EXPOLINGUA Berlin) 2017 - Buenos Aires International Book Fair in Argentina (Korean Pavilion) 2016- Home & Table Deco Fair 2016 (COEX, SEOUL)- Craft Trend Fair 2016 (COEX, SEOUL)- London International Language Fair 2016 Exhibition & sale(Korean Pavilion) 2015- Awarded in the Design Competition of the 1st Hangeul Creative Idea Competitionp.p1 {margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; text-align: justify; font: 12px 'Nanum Gothic'}p.p2 {margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; text-align: justify; font: 12px 'Nanum Gothic'; min-height: 14px}p.p1 {margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; text-align: justify; font: 12px 'Nanum Gothic'}p.p2 {margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; text-align: justify; font: 12px 'Nanum Gothic'; min-height: 14px}span.s1 {text-decoration: underline}p.p1 {margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; text-align: justify; font: 12px 'Nanum Gothic'}p.p2 {margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; text-align: justify; font: 12px 'Nanum Gothic'; min-height: 14px}p.p3 {margin: 0px 0px 15px 0px; font: 15px 'Apple SD Gothic Neo'}
