A trade-matching officer of Trade Korea received an inquiry from a Russian buyer through GBMS in June 2016. The buyer was looking for an innovative snow ice maker that he saw at the Seoul Int'l Cafe Show held at COEX in 2015. Upon the request, the officer searched for the manufacturer of the snow ice maker by reviewing the exhibition list on the website of the conference and finally found Snow Fall to match them with the Russian buyer.
Snow Fall has developed an Instant Ice-making Technique to immediately freeze water at -25℃ and make ice particles by combining the processes of making and shaving ice cubes. The snow ice made by the innovative ice maker is super soft and frozen for a longer period of time to improve the texture and extend the use with a variety of foods; as a result, Snow Fall has gained a 90% share of the domestic ice-maker market.
The buyer has previously imported made-in-China ice makers at a cheap price but was dissatisfied with their durability and warranty services. Found at COEX, the innovative ‘instant ice-making techniques’ made the buyer to anticipate a success in Russia, the country of snow.
In response to the buyers’ concerns on safety and durability of the product, Snow Fall will provide an alarm feature through an electronic circuit to provide notice to replace filters and blades on average every six months on the basis of 10 hours of operation per day; the product has obtained CE certification for the first time in the industry in preparation of export to the European market.
Accordingly, the buyer and a sales representative of Snow Fall have discussed the price and technical details of the product. After three months, the buyer has confirmed the purchase of a snow ice maker machine. The sample machine is undergoing a test of durability and ice quality. Upon satisfactory test results, the product will be launched in the Russian market as well as in Finland.
Although products are usually sourced through exhibitions and foreign branches, Snow Fall has been matched with the potential buyer through the GBMS matching service provided by Trade Korea; the sales representative has shown appreciation in regard to the opportunity. In addition, the snow ice makers have been demanded by Southeast Asian countries because of their hot weather, but Snow Fall could establish a bridgehead to the market of Russia in spite of the cold weather with the support of Trade Korea.
