D Company, established in 1999, is a specialized manufacturer and distributor of high-quality kitchenware, including cutting boards, trays, and placemats. Domestically, the company has earned recognition for its exceptional quality and OEM/ODM capabilities, supplying major online and offline channels, including Modern House, E-Mart, Lotte Mart, and Coupang. In 2025, D Company launched a full-scale push into overseas markets and actively participated in tradeKorea's initiatives. Their participation in the tradeKorea sample exhibition at the Jakarta Premium Consumer Goods Fair, in particular, garnered positive responses from the local market, affirming their readiness for expansion into the Asian market.

In December 2025, an inquiry for cutting board products was received from Company C, a major retail buyer in Thailand (with annual revenue of approximately USD 15.7 billion and a workforce of 70,000 employees). The buyer, a key affiliate of the C Group, operates warehouse clubs and supermarket chains and was seeking to collaborate with competitive Korean manufacturers of household and kitchen products. Despite the stringent requirements expected from a buyer with such an extensive distribution network, the matching manager determined that Company D could fully meet the buyer’s standards and specifications and proceeded with the matching process.

In January 2026, a face-to-face meeting was scheduled between the two companies during the buyer's visit to Korea. This meeting was followed by approximately six months of intense discussions, which included product testing, negotiations on unit prices, and configurations. Although discussions were temporarily suspended due to unforeseen circumstances on the buyer's side, the matching manager's persistent follow-up efforts successfully revived negotiations in April 2026. Additionally, the manager provided close support by visiting D Company's headquarters to receive detailed progress updates and explore further support strategies.

Thanks to proactive follow-up and collaboration between both parties, D Company successfully finalized an initial export contract worth over USD 20,000 for cutting board products with Company C in Thailand in May 2026. All contracted export volumes were shipped by the end of June. This case represents a significant achievement, illustrating how continuous post-matching management through tradeKorea can lead to meaningful contracts with major retail buyers. Moving forward, tradeKorea is committed to supporting the ongoing relationship between D Company and Company C in Thailand and will actively work to help promising Korean manufacturers expand their international distribution channels.
