About CPE
Chlorinated polyethylene is a kind of polymer material made from high density polyethylene via a substitution reaction of chlorination.
Chlorinated polyethylene elastomer (CM) possesses saturated polyethylene chain, so it obtains good weatherability, resistance to ozone, chemical corrosion and aging and also good oil resistance, flame resistance and dyeing property. It is widely used in machinery, electricity, chemical, construction and mining industries. The weatherability, ozone resistance, heat resistance and ageing resistance abilities are better than many kinds of rubbers. Its oil resistance ability is better than NBR and CR, and ageing resistance ability is better than CSM. It is also resistance to acid, alkali and salt, and it is non-toxic, flame resistance, no risk of explosion.
CPE is divided into rubber grade (CM) and resin type (CPE).
Rubber grade CPE (CM) is a kind of special rubber with high properties and high quality that is widely used in wires and cables (mineral cables and the wires under VDE standard), hydraulic hoses, vehicles hoses, magnetic materials, ABS modification,etc. It can also be blended with other rubbers like EPR, IIR, NBR, CSM, etc.
CM can be also copolymerized with acrylonitrile and styrene to synthetise ACS resin and synthetise with acrylonitrile and styrene to form ACS resin, which possesses natural flame resistance and anti-static properties and used to replace ABS resin and it can also be applied in high level industries like military and aerospace.
CM can also form CM-PVC co-polymer with PVC, and this co-polymer concentrates the advantages of the two kinds of materials, and formulate a new material with higher tensile strength and better elongation at break than CM, and higher tenacity than PVC.
Resin type CPE is mainly used for impact modifiers for general resins like PVC and PP, and modification for magnetic materials, ABS resins, PU.
Product Characteristics
The chlorine in chlorinated polyethylene (CM/CPE) is well-distributed, containing saturated polyethylene chain, with good resistance to heat, aging, ozone, acid&alkali and chemicals.
Chlorinated polyethylene (CM/CPE) obtains excellent oil resistance property, which is almost the same level as NBR, CR and CSM.
Chlorinated polyethylene (CM/CPE) is non-toxic and doesn’t contain any heavy metal, which totally meet the environmental protection regulations like REACH, ROHS and PAHS.
Chlorinated polyethylene (CM/CPE) is porous particles, full removal of acid, low conductivity.
Chlorinated polyethylene (CM/CPE) has high filling ability, and can be made into different products to meet varies of requirements. Many products models are available for the Mooney viscosity 45-100 (test method ML 125（1+4）).
