Product Information
Tellurium Dioxide is a solid oxide of tellurium, it has two crystal structures tetragonal (α-TeO2) and
monoclinic (β-TeO2), the application and research of TeO2 is based on tetragonal TeO2 (α-TeO2).
It is insoluble in water and soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid. TeO2 is an amphoteric substance and
therefore can act both as an acid or as a base depending on the solution it is in, it reacts with acids to
make tellurium salts and bases to make tellurites. It can be oxidized to telluric acid or tellurates. It is
the important substance for acousto-optical devices, the speed of sound in TeO2 is 4250 m/s.
