▶ Function

Four of each are mounted on the vehicle's axles and the ABS, TCS and

ESC control systems determine the wheel speed based on signals sent

by the wheel speed sensor. This information is used to prevent the

wheels from locking, to determine when the wheels are turning, and

to take appropriate control actions to maintain the vehicle's stability

and steering response. Wheel speed measures the signal using the

giant magnetoresistance (GMR) effect. The information processing

function integrated with this method can handle many functions

using its new generation sensor. It has also been developed to meet

the needs of autonomous driving according to ISO 26262 (Functional

Safety Management Requirements).

▶ Measurement principle

The direction of the magnetic field is magnetized to the FL (Free Layer).

The resistance changes according to the angle with the fixed PL (Pinned

Layer), changing the amount of current.

(This means that the MR IC for detecting the movement of the target

is located inside the sensor. The IC detects a giant change in resistance

according to the rotation of the encoder wheel coupled to the axle

and then transmits it to the EUC.)

• Function of transmitting speed data of each wheel to ABS /TCS / ECU.

• Convert the rotation (physical signal) of the target into voltage or current (electrical signal) to transmit 

  it to the ABS control unit.
