While at an exhibition in 2005, Shin (accidentally) discovered a small portion of the voice comes out of the ear when we speak. From there, he discovered placing a microphone in the ear effectively eliminates all sound besides the voice. Shin realized if someone could develop a microphone small enough to fit in the ear, phone conversations could finally be clear.
In 2012, as small, functioning components became available to market, Shin quit his job and developed a team to design unique earbuds that eased the growing pains of modern day, on-the-go communication. By replacing the mouthpiece found in most headsets with a microphone that fits invisibly inside the ear, RippleBuds was born.
Today, we have 115 registered and pending patents across various IPs in at least nine countries.
