ColiView for coliforms
Coliview is a kit testing presence and absence of coliforms in your drinking water allows specific enzyme-chromogenic substrate reaction. Coliforms are important indicators of fecal contamination. If coliform bacteria exist (blue color), you should enhance hygiene practice because the result provide a possibility of other food poisoning pathogens.

Principle
| If coliforms are present, they use the enzyme β-galactosidase (produced by all coliforms, including E.coli) to metabolize the specific color-producing substrate, chromogen and the medium changes color from near colorless to blue. |

Test Procedudre

Add 20 mL sample to a medium tube with a filled volume of 4 mL.
|
Add 1 mL substrate to the medium tube filled with sample plus medium.
|
Incubate the sample with medium at 35~37°C for 16~24 hrs. (at ambient temp. for 36 hrs.)

Read the
result |
Add 2 mL BacterZero to the test-finished tube and mix, and discard it into a toilet.

Interpretation of Result
 |
After incubation, the color of medium in reaction bottle would be changed to blue under presence of coliforms in sample water. On the other hand, color of medium would not be changed under absence of coliforms in sample.
