FRONICS’ VOICE SENSOR is the world’s only speaker identification and voice recognition sensor specifically designed to communicate with AI by mimicking the way humans hear sounds.

 

 

FRONICS has developed a proprietary flexible piezoelectric material and applied it to develop ‘Flexible Piezoelectric Acoustic Sensor(f-PAS)’, a VOICE SENSOR with a dramatically improved speaker identification rate. FRONICS’ VOICE SENSOR was made in the form of a piezoelectric thin film in the trapezoidal shape by mimicking the basilar membrane (BM) of the human cochlea. This VOICE SENSOR product can precisely and sensitively acquire voice signals coming through the flexible piezoelectric membrane which resonates for multiple frequency bands of voice.

Unlike conventional microphone sensors, the Flexible Piezoelectric Acoustic Sensor(f-PAS) can be self-powered(always-on) without an external power supply. Each channel can pick up a certain band of voice frequency through a linear response of resonance for corresponding a frequency band, generating voltage when speech is uttered.
While conventional microphone sensors can recognize voice up to about 3 meters away, FRONICS' f-PAS can pick up voices 2 to 4 times that distance.
Further, f-PAS can obtain abundant voice data from one utterance because it receives signals on multiple channels. This significantly reduces errors in speaker identification and voice recognition, painting a picture of the innovative future where the technology will be widely applied to smart home automation, AI assistants, self-driving cars, and biometric authentication security.

Enhanced Experience



In order to verify the performance of FRONICS’ f-PAS in comparison with the conventional microphone sensor, we conducted an experiment to compare the f-PAS with 'SPH****' sensor made by 'Company K', one of the microphone sensors used in 'Company S' mobile phones.
  The training databased was created using 70 times of voice utterances by each of the 40 speakers in advance. Then, 7 different voice utterance of the same speakers not included in the training database were used for the actual experiment.
As a result, FRONICS’ VOICE SENSOR reduced the error rate of speaker recognition by 75% compared to the conventional microphone.

FRONICS was founded in Sept. 2016 as a spin-off of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

The company was established to commercialize smart acoustic sensors and wearable devices.

 

FRONICS, the abbreviation of Flexible electRONICS, is a developer and manufacturer of smart acoustic sensor and wearable devices.

Our roadmap includes the development of products for both the industrial and research laboratory.  

We are also interested in providing the platform technologies for major and  mid-sized distributors to develop their own IOT products.

 

FRONICS CO-FOUNDER

 

Prof. Lee, an inventor and co-founder of FRONICS' technologies, is a world renowned engineer in the field of flexible sensor and electronics.

He received a Ph.D degree in 2006 from University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and currently Professor at Dept. of Materials Science and Engineering, KAIST.

He has spent 17 years for developping IoT sensors and wearable devices. 

He serves as technology advisor of the FRONICS and lead future R&D efforts.

 

FRONICS TECHNOLOGIES

 

1)Fronics have the source technologies necessary for the popularization of the micro LED era.
 
  -The size of micro LED is 2 ~ 4um, which is very small and thin micro LED.

    ( The size of existing LED is 50 ~ 100um.)

   -We can mass transfer small LEDs in micro units.

2)Fronics' Flexible Piezoelectric Acoustic Sensor For Speaker Recognition will advance the

   -It is a self-resonant method using piezoelectric materials, so no separate power connection is required.

   -The sensitivity is 2 to 8 times higher than the existing voice sensors, so the recognition rate is high

     at a long distance.

   -The error rate was reduced by 75% in the speaker recognition comparison with existing sensors.

  -Speech recognition based on advanced acoustic sensor and optimized machine learning software will

   play an innovative interface for artificial intelligence (AI) services
